The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional, and reliable Judo Coach to join our growing coaching team.
You will deliver engaging, structured, and age-appropriate Judo sessions for primary school children aged 5-13 years, helping them develop physical skills, confidence, discipline, respect, and self-control through the values of Judo.

What You'll Deliver
Sessions may include:
- Fundamental Judo techniques suitable for primary-aged children
- Safe breakfalls (Ukemi)
- Balance and coordination exercises
- Movement and agility drills
- Partner activities in a safe and controlled environment
- Basic throws and groundwork appropriate for children's age and ability
- Respect, discipline, confidence and values-based learning
- Fun games that develop focus, teamwork, agility and physical literacy
- Age-appropriate activities adapted to different abilities
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, fun, structured and inclusive Judo sessions.
- Create a positive learning environment where every child feels encouraged and supported.
- Teach Judo safely while promoting discipline, respect, confidence and teamwork.
- Adapt activities to suit different ages, abilities and learning styles.
- Maintain excellent behaviour management throughout sessions.
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are always followed.
- Set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions.
- Maintain attendance registers where required.
- Communicate professionally with schools, parents and the Serge Betsen Sports team.
- Act as a positive role model for all participants.
- Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns in line with company procedures.
Essential Requirements
- British Judo Association (BJA) Coaching Qualification or equivalent recognised governing body qualification.
- Minimum Level 1 Judo Coach (Level 2 preferred).
- Experience coaching children aged 5–13 years.
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Valid Safeguarding Children Certificate.
- Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Passionate about developing young people through sport.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- BJA Level 2 Coach.
- Experience delivering after-school clubs.
- Experience working within primary schools.
- Experience delivering holiday camps or community sports programmes.
- Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not essential).
