We are looking to appoint an experienced MEP Design Manager to join our Engineering team, leading the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) design on a complex live project.
This is a key role responsible for managing and coordinating all MEP design activities throughout project delivery, commissioning and handover. Working within a technically demanding and highly regulated environment, you will ensure design solutions are fully coordinated, compliant, buildable and aligned with programme, commercial objectives and client requirements.
Working closely with internal engineering teams, design consultants and specialist subcontractors, you will provide technical leadership while maintaining design integrity and driving successful project outcomes.
Key Duties
- Lead and manage all MEP design activities throughout the live project, ensuring coordinated, compliant and buildable engineering solutions that support successful project delivery.
- Manage design consultants and specialist subcontractors, overseeing design information, change control and programme deliverables to maintain quality and design assurance.
- Drive value engineering initiatives while managing design risk, commercial impacts and programme changes, ensuring solutions remain practical and cost effective.
- Collaborate with project delivery teams to ensure MEP designs integrate seamlessly with construction, commissioning and handover activities within a complex operational environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for MEP design matters, providing technical leadership, stakeholder management and structured reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
You will be an experienced MEP Design Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex engineering or construction projects through live delivery and commissioning phases.
You will bring:
- Proven experience managing Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health design within a major engineering or construction environment.
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, engineering standards, design assurance processes and multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Experience managing design consultants, specialist subcontractors and stakeholder relationships within complex or highly regulated projects.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing design change, programme impacts and value engineering initiatives.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.
