Overview
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Dog Walker to join our pet care team. This role involves providing exceptional care and exercise for dogs in their local neighbourhoods, ensuring they receive the attention and activity they need for a healthy and happy life. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent customer service skills, and the physical ability to handle active walks and some heavy lifting when necessary. This position offers an opportunity to work outdoors and make a positive difference in pet owners’ lives.
We can also offer a room for the employee to stay at our address in Shepherds Bush, we will offer this room at a competive rate for the employee.
The employee must have previous experience with dogs and be able to deal with big dogs.
We are based on Kensington and cover west London and south west London.
Travel costs are not provided and therefore the employee should live in the West London area.
The employee will have access to the company dog carrying van so must have a valid UK driving licence. Potentially the employee should be able to keep the company van overnight at their location.
Responsibilities
- Take dogs on scheduled walks, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the activity
- Pick up and drop off dog in the van
- Provide companionship and basic training during walks to promote good behaviour
- Monitor dogs for signs of distress or health issues during outings
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including handling waste disposal responsibly
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ behaviour, needs, or any concerns during walks
- Assist with feeding or administering medication if required (training provided)
- Uphold health and safety standards at all times, including safe handling of animals and equipment
- Take videos and pictures of the dogs
Qualifications
- Prior experience with animal care or veterinary work is advantageous but not essential; a genuine love for animals is essential
- Previous experience with dog walker is a must
- UK full driving licence
- Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with pet owners
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including some heavy lifting (e.g., dog harnesses or equipment) and dealing with big dogs
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Good organisational skills to manage scheduled walks efficiently
- Must be physically fit to walk multiple dogs over extended periods of time
