Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our school catering team in the role of Catering Assistant. This is an exciting time to join the school, as catering provision will come under school management from September 2026. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued development of a high-quality, efficient and responsive catering service for children, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will work as part of a friendly team to help prepare, cook and serve meals, and to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming dining environment.
The Catering Assistant will carry out a range of duties in support of the school catering service, including:
- Preparation of ingredients
- Cooking and serving a varied range of meals in line with recipes, menus or production plans
- Using catering equipment safely and appropriately
- General cleaning and washing-up duties
- Assisting with ordering supplies
- Undertaking record-keeping and stock control tasks
- Supporting the health and safety of themselves and others
- Working within school policies and procedures
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly in line with the needs of the school and to attend meetings and training sessions as required.

Desirable Experience
It would be an advantage if you have:
- A recognised catering qualification
- Experience of catering for large numbers
- Knowledge of allergies and specialised diets
- Understanding of basic nutritional needs
Knowledge of the correct use of kitchen equipment and utensils
