Location - The White Lion, Thakeham, West Sussex
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Front of House Team Member to join our small, welcoming team at our country pub in the heart of the Sussex countryside.

The White Lion is an original 16th-century coaching inn located in the picturesque village of Thakeham, West Sussex. We pride ourselves on providing excellent hospitality, delicious local pub food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. With seating for 43 diners, a cozy bar area, and a beautiful south-facing beer garden, The White Lion offers a relaxed environment for customers.

Responsibilities
· Greeting and welcoming customers into the pub
· Engaging with customers in a friendly and conversational manner
· Serving customers in the restaurant
· Taking food and drink orders from customers
· Delivering food and drink to customers at their tables
· Handling payments from customers
· Cleaning the restaurant before opening
· Helping on the bar as needed
· Setting up garden areas during the summer months
· Helping looking after the fires during the winter months
· Communicating any issues that arise with tables to management
· Checking customer toilets
Setting up and laying out the restaurant
Ensuring the restaurant is clean and tidy
Being knowledgeable about menu items
· Upselling menu items
Following instructions and working as part of a team
· Taking bookings and answering the restaurant phone.
Ideal Candidate
· Pleasant and talkative with strong interpersonal skills
· Must be 18+ as this job role involves the sale of alcohol
· Enjoys greeting and interacting with customers
· Some experience working in a pub/restaurant environment
Able to identify customer needs and handle issues efficiently
· Must be available for part time work & on weekends.
· Either has a driving licence or a reliable way to get back and forth to work.
· Previous experience within hospitality.
· Confident with customers and making following systems and instructions from management
· Organised, reliable and calm under pressure
· A positive, team-focused approach
