Pre-Registered Trainee Pharmacy Technician - NVQ3, Level 3
Position available at both our Cheam (Nr. Sutton) and Dorking (RH4 2HQ) Pharmacies
A great opportunity to join a busy independent community pharmacy with a friendly team.
As a Trainee Pharmacy Technician, you will be an important team member, providing great service and helping to create loyal customers who return time and time again.
This is a 2-year apprenticeship training course, which includes one day a week of paid study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians while you work.
The Role
A typical week includes:
- One day studying a distance learning course (this can be from home)
- Up to four days working and gaining experience in the pharmacy and local GP practice
You will have an educational supervisor who will guide you through the course and train you on the job. In the pharmacy, you will advise patients, dispense prescriptions, organise the dispensary, and provide personalised solutions that help people lead healthier lives.
You will also be trained to support the pharmacist in providing a range of pharmacy services, including COVID and flu vaccinations, blood pressure checks, ear checks, contraception clinics, hospital discharge reviews, and minor illness clinics. We expect dispensing to be only half of your role, with significant involvement in all our pharmacy service opportunities.
This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years, with the possibility of a permanent role after registering as a qualified pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
You will also become an accuracy checking technician, undertaking final checks on prescriptions and receiving full training to conduct vaccinations.
The Person
You should be confident, a team player, self-motivated, with good customer skills and the ability to communicate well with patients. Strong IT skills and the ability to learn quickly are essential. You must have a desire to grow and develop rapidly.
The eligibility criteria for the training course and to be considered for interview are:
- Four GCSEs at Grade A*-C/9-4, including Maths, English Language, and Science.
Please confirm you meet these GCSE requirements.
The Pharmacy
Our ultra-modern pharmacies have a dispensing robot, multiple consultation rooms, and provide all core services plus an exceptional range of additional services, including flu jabs, travel vaccines, and private clinics. We operate a COVID-19 Vaccination Hub and are the local PCN pharmacy lead.
Our pharmacies are open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will be required to work a total of 30-40 hours a week. Your working hours will be explained during the interview, and we will agree on the working patterns after discussing your needs to ensure they are suitable for you.
