Nestled on the vibrant Hackney Road in East London, The Hackney is cafe-bar & events space that plays host to over 100 weddings, corporate PR events, and celebrations each year for a range of top-named brands. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and dynamic hospitality professional to enhance our team in the key role of Events Manager.
About the Role
Deputy to the Events Manager on event days. Leads venue setup, runs the casual FOH team through service under the Events Manager’s direction, leads the post-dinner turnaround, and steps up as onsite manager later in the evening to lead the team through close-down and lock-up.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Leads venue setup for each event with input from the Events Manager — table dressing, glassware, room layout — and signs off the floor as event-ready before couple arrival.
- 2. Runs the casual FOH team through service under the Events Manager’s direction: in-shift direction, breaks, allergens awareness on food run, drinks service, and table resets.
- 3. Leads the post-dinner turnaround under the Events Manager’s supervision —resetting the room and getting the floor ready for the evening reception.
- 4. Steps up as onsite manager when the Events Manager leaves: leading the team through close-down, signing off cleaning back to The Hackney’s standard, and locking up the venue.
- 5. Trains and inducts new casuals to The Hackney’s service standards under the Events Manager’s direction.
About You
- Proven experience in hospitality, particularly in events
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organisational abilities, with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and high-pressure situations with grace
