Handyman / Multi-Skilled LabourerOverview
AR Systems Ltd is looking for a reliable and practical Handyman / Multi-Skilled Labourer to join our growing team.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting our engineers and carrying out general handyman, builders’ works, maintenance and labouring duties across a range of sites.
Previous experience is not essential. We will consider applicants with no direct trade experience who are reliable, practically minded, willing to learn and have the right attitude. Training and guidance will be provided.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own car are essential for this position.
For site work outside our normal working area, company transport will be provided.
Typical Duties
- General handyman and builders’ works.
- Lifting and reinstating floorboards and flooring to provide access for cable routes.
- Drilling and forming cable routes through walls, floors and other building structures.
- Drilling and forming penetrations for installation works.
- Making good walls, ceilings, floors and other areas following works.
- Minor joinery and carpentry.
- Removing and replacing sections of skirting, boxing and other finishes where required.
- Fitting access panels and basic boxing-in.
- Drilling, fixing and mounting equipment.
- Running, clipping and securing cables.
- Installing basic containment including trunking and conduit.
- Assisting engineers with CCTV, fire alarm, security, access control and electrical installation works.
- Removing redundant equipment, cabling and containment.
- Moving and organising tools, materials and equipment.
- Keeping work areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Collecting and delivering materials when required.

- Working independently on suitable tasks once trained and competent.
What We're Looking For
We are more interested in attitude, reliability and willingness to learn than having a long list of qualifications.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a full UK driving licence – essential.
- Have access to their own car – essential.
- Be reliable and punctual.
- Be willing to learn and take instruction.
- Be practically minded and comfortable with hands-on work.
- Be willing to use hand and power tools.
- Be comfortable working from ladders and at height where required.
- Be willing to carry out physical work including lifting, drilling and moving materials.
- Take pride in leaving customers' properties clean and tidy.
- Be able to work independently as their experience develops.
- Have a professional attitude when working around customers and other contractors.
No Experience?
We will consider candidates with no previous experience.
If you're dependable, willing to work, comfortable with practical tasks and keen to learn, we would still encourage you to apply.
Experience in handyman work, labouring, construction, joinery, maintenance, electrical work or fire and security systems would be an advantage, but it is not a requirement.
Driving & Travel
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle to travel to our normal/local working locations when required.
For projects or site work outside our normal working area, transport will be provided by AR Systems Ltd.

AR Systems Ltd is a growing Fire, Security & Automation company working across commercial and residential properties.
Our engineers regularly require builders’ works and general site assistance to complete installations. This position will support them with tasks including floorboard access, cable routes, drilling, minor joinery, making good and general installation assistance.
For someone coming into the industry with little or no experience, this is an opportunity to learn practical skills on the job and develop within a growing company.
Pay: £10.85-£14.00 per hour
