About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an electrically biased role focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production machinery to maximise reliability, safety, and performance.
You will be responsible for responding to equipment breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, electrical improvement projects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Electrical Competence
We’re looking for someone who has strong electrical engineering knowledge and can demonstrate competence in industrial electrical fault finding, maintenance, repair and modification. You’ll have good working knowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to undertake basic mechanical maintenance and fault finding.
- Electrical fault finding and diagnosis on industrial machinery and plant.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and control circuit diagrams.
- Safe isolation and electrical working practices in accordance with company procedures and applicable legislation.
- Fault finding on motors, contactors, relays, overloads, sensors, solenoids, VSDs/inverters and control circuits.
- Understanding of PLC-controlled machinery, HMI systems and industrial automation.
- Inspection and functional testing of emergency stops, safety circuits, guards and interlocks.
- Planned preventative maintenance of electrical and control systems.
- Electrical installation, modification and upgrading of machinery and plant.
- Ability to identify recurring faults and undertake root cause analysis.
- Accurate completion of maintenance records, work orders and relevant electrical documentation.
- Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, PUWER, LOLER (where applicable), and current company electrical safety/isolation procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment, identifying and reporting safety or operational concerns to the Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager.
- Ensure all machinery is operated and maintained safely, with the authority to isolate or remove equipment from service where a risk to personnel, product, or property is identified.
- Communicate concerns relating to plant, buildings, utilities, and production equipment to the Engineering Manager or Lead Engineer.
- Complete maintenance work orders and engineering documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults in collaboration with Shift Managers, Team Leaders, and other operational stakeholders.
- Provide technical support to production teams during breakdowns, changeovers, and operational issues.
- Lead electrical fault finding, repairs, modifications, and machine upgrade projects across the site.
- Undertake mechanical repairs and support multi-skilled maintenance activities where required.
- Monitor engineering spare parts inventory and raise requests for replacement stock as necessary.
- Carry out routine inspections and maintenance of site services, including compressors, chillers, vacuum systems, and associated equipment.
- Inspect, test, and maintain machine safety systems, including emergency stops, interlocks, guards, and protection devices.
- Support complex problem-solving activities, conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing safety, reliability, efficiency, and manufacturing performance.
- Support site safety improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive Health & Safety culture.
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the role as reasonably requested by the Engineering Manager.
What We're Looking For:
- Completed recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Certificate.
- Strong industrial electrical fault-finding experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience within plastics, packaging, print, FMCG, or automated manufacturing environments.

Relevant Information:
- Salary up to £53k dependent on experience
- 38.5 hours per week working shifts 7am-7pm between Monday to Sunday
