Strike Education is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable PE Teacher or experienced Sports Coach to deliver high-quality physical education within a primary school in Ilford.
This is a part-time role working three days per week during term time. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive and well-structured PE lessons to pupils across the primary age range.
You will join a supportive organisation with extensive experience delivering PE, school sport, mentoring and educational programmes across primary, secondary, SEND and alternative provision settings.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging curriculum-based PE lessons following the schools existing PE curriculum
- Teach pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
- Adapt sessions to meet different ages, abilities and additional needs.
- Create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils to develop confidence, teamwork, communication and physical skills.
- Manage behaviour effectively and follow the school’s policies and procedures.
- Assess pupil progress and provide feedback to the school.
- Set up, use and safely store sports equipment.
- Work closely with school staff and the Strike Education team.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and punctuality.
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience delivering PE or sports sessions to primary-aged children.
- Is confident leading full classes independently.
- Has strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
- Can deliver a range of sports and physical activities.
- Is dependable, organised and professional.
- Understands the importance of inclusion and adapting activities for individual needs.
- Is passionate about helping children enjoy being active.
A relevant qualification in sports coaching, physical education or teaching would be beneficial. Applications are welcomed from qualified teachers, sports coaches, PE specialists and individuals with strong school-based coaching experience.
Essential requirements
- Experience working with children in a school, sports or educational setting.
- A recognised sports coaching, PE or teaching qualification.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding.
- The ability to provide suitable professional references.
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new DBS check.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Availability every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from September 2026.
Desirable experience
- Experience delivering the primary PE curriculum.
- Experience working across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
- SEND or SEMH experience.
- Paediatric first-aid training.
- Additional National Governing Body coaching qualifications.
