We are a well-established accountancy practice based in Ruislip, seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Accountant to join our close-knit team.
This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for a part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA professional (or equivalent qualification) with experience in an accountancy practice environment. What we are looking for
- Experience: At least 2+ years in an accountancy practice. However, if you have less experience but a fantastic learning mindset and the right attitude, we want to hear from you.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be confident corresponding with clients via email and phone.
- HMRC Knowledge: Proven experience corresponding with HMRC and using online government portals (e.g., HMRC Online Services, Agent Services).
- Technical Skills: Experience with book-keeping, payroll, VAT, management accounts, and statutory accounts.
- Software Knowledge (Highly Preferable): Familiarity with CCH Accounts, VT Transaction, Xero and Payroll Manager will be a significant advantage.
- Mindset: A self-starter, highly organised, proactive in client follow-ups, and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Availability: Ideally available to start within one month or sooner.
Key responsibilities
- VAT Returns: Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, including partial exemption calculations, flat rate, and cash accounting schemes where applicable.
- Statutory Accounts: Handle bookkeeping, trial balance, and analytical reviews. Prepare and finalise company accounts in line with FRS105 and FRS102,with a strong understanding of disclosures required by accounting standards.
- Corporation Tax: Compute and prepare Corporation Tax returns accurately and in a timely manner.
- Personal Tax: Prepare rental landlord accounts (including new HMRC MTD regulations), sole trader / partnership accounts, and income analysis (dividends, foreign income, interest). Prepare and submit personal tax returns.
- Payroll Management: Manage the full end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full statutory compliance (tax codes, pensions, year-end documents). Also responsible for P11D and NEST pension submissions.
- HMRC Correspondence: Act as the primary contact for HMRC; handle general correspondence, manage online submissions, deal with enquiries, and assist with penalty appeals where necessary.
- Client Communication: Proven track record of communicating directly with clients; sending draft accounts, dealing with queries, and explaining accounts, tax liabilities, and payroll in a clear and professional manner.
- Month-End & Year-End: Perform month-end close activities, including manual journal entries, accruals, prepayments, review supplier & customer ledgers, review TB, highlight any unusual transactions, bank reconciliations and prepare management accounts.

Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
