Job Purpose:
The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for supporting major infrastructure and regulated projects through the provision of quality management, assurance and control services.
The primary purpose of the role is to ensure project and supply-chain adherence to contracted quality requirements.
The QE will be seconded into an Integrated Management System (IMS) Auditor role at client site, providing independent assurance that management systems comply with regulatory, nuclear licence and international standard requirements. The QE will ensure robust quality implementation across projects and supply chains and be capable of providing structured audit assurance
This role operates across both operational quality delivery and system-level assurance within highly regulated (nuclear) environments.
Principal Accountabilities:
Project Quality Delivery (Core QE Role)
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Project Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs/MIT Plans).
- Conduct site and supplier surveillance and inspection activities.
- Review and oversee supply-chain Quality Plans and quality documentation.
- Manage the non-conformance process, ensuring timely closure and effective Root Cause Analysis.
- Ensure appropriate control and retention of quality records (e.g., material certification, end-of-report documentation).
- Support risk & opportunity reviews and lessons learned activities.
- Participate in investigations relating to quality issues.
- Capture and analyse quality metrics to support management reporting.
Audit & IMS Assurance (Client Deployment Scope)
When deployed in an IMS Auditor capacity, the QE will:
- Support delivery of a risk-based Integrated Management System (IMS) audit programme.
- Plan, conduct and report internal audits aligned to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Define audit scope, criteria and objectives.
- Identify and categorise audit findings (Non-Conformances, Observations, Good Practice, OFIs).
- Monitor corrective action closure and verify effectiveness.
- Analyse audit results to support continual improvement.
- Provide assurance that processes comply with Nuclear Licence Conditions (including LC17 where applicable).
- Support certification and regulatory reviews as required.
