Part-Time Operations Manager – Maternity Cover
October 2026 – Mid-June 2027 | Part-Time
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised part-time Operations Support Manager to join our team on a maternity cover basis from October 2026 until mid-June 2027.
Based at our showroom Surrey, we are an established luxury artificial floristry business specialising in high-quality artificial flowers, greenery, trees and bespoke arrangements for private clients, interior designers, hospitality and commercial customers.
This is a varied and hands-on role for someone who enjoys being at the heart of a growing business and is confident managing multiple areas of operations, from people and systems to products, suppliers and logistics.
The Role
Working closely with the Director and wider team, you will take responsibility for keeping the operational side of the business running smoothly throughout the maternity leave period.
You will need to be comfortable getting involved and making things happen, while also having the organisational ability to step back, identify improvements and put effective forward planning in place
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Systems
- Oversee the day-to-day operational running of the business.
- Ensure systems and information are kept accurate and up to date, including Shopify and other operational systems
- Maintain operational documentation.
- Provide regular updates to the Director on operational performance and issues.
Product Management
- Oversee product information including pricing, SKUs and website information.
- Coordinate new product introductions from supplier through to showroom and website.
- Oversee purchasing requirements supporting the Director.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing and lead times.
HR & People
- Manage day-to-day HR administration.
- Maintain holiday, absence and employee records.
- Coordinate probation reviews, appraisals and other key HR dates.
- Support recruitment and onboarding where required.
- Assist with employee queries and day-to-day people management.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Work with the Director on more complex or sensitive HR matters.
Logistics & Warehouse
- Oversee the smooth running of goods-in, stock movements and dispatch including own vehicle deliveries.
- Monitor stock accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
- Coordinate courier collections and deliveries.
- Liaise with suppliers and delivery partners.
- Help manage larger or specialist deliveries.
- Identify and resolve logistical issues before they impact customers.
- Support forward planning around seasonal and busy periods.
General Business Support
- Act as a central point of contact for operational queries.
- Coordinate between the showroom, office, production and warehouse teams.
- Keep track of outstanding actions and projects.
- Support the Director with operational planning and decision making.
- Ensure issues are followed through to resolution rather than simply passed on.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, practical and commercially aware, with the confidence to take ownership of a wide range of responsibilities.
You will ideally have experience in an Operations Manager, Office Manager or similar role within a small or medium-sized business.
You will be:
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- A confident problem solver who takes initiative.
- Commercially minded and conscious of costs.
- Experienced in managing systems and processes.
- Confident dealing with suppliers and external partners.
- Comfortable managing HR administration and supporting a small team.
- Able to work independently without needing constant direction.
- A strong communicator who is happy working across different areas of the business.
- Practical and hands-on rather than purely strategic.
- Confident using technology and learning new systems.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience with Shopify, stock/inventory systems and HR administration would be advantageous.
The Hours
This is a part-time maternity cover position, running from October 2026 to mid-June 2027.
We are flexible on the exact working pattern for the right candidate, but anticipate approximately 3 days per week, with the possibility of some flexibility around days and hours.
The role will be based at our Weybridge showroom, so candidates must be able to travel to the location reliably.
