We are a friendly, 3-site dispensing Practice in Buckinghamshire with Surgeries in Wing, Whitchurch, and Winslow. The Practice has 6 GP Partners, together with salaried GPs and ANPs. They are supported by a full complement of Nurses, HCAs, a clinical pharmacist and provide care for 20,000 patients. We are a proactive and forward-thinking Practice dedicated to providing quality patient care. In total we are a team of more than 100 staff and we consider it important to maintain a supportive team ethos. We have a CQC rating of ‘good' across all metrics, thanks to outstanding administrative support.
Hours of Work
28.5 hours - Monday to Friday 08:00 - 13:00 and/or 14:00-18:30
Aim of the post:
- To process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the company policies.
Main responsibilities:
- Opening dispensary and turning on computers and printers
- Receiving prescriptions and making up as directed
- Meeting and greeting patients, taking their repeat prescriptions and answering patient queries
- Ensuring that the number of hours from a patient requesting a prescription to availability for collection is within the agreed turn around time.
- Handing out completed prescriptions to patients/relatives/ carers
- Responsible for daily recording of the fridge temperatures where medication, drugs, injections, vaccines etc. are stored
- Dealing with telephone prescribing queries
- Ordering medication from wholesalers.
- Unpacking deliveries, checking orders against invoices and returning medication when necessary.
- Stock rotation
- Receiving money for prescriptions, recording in the appropriate place and providing receipts as necessary
- Ensuring patients have completed the reverse side of prescription as directed and signed in the appropriate place
- Ensuring prescriptions made up for home delivery
- Following the Standard Operating Procedures adopted by the Practice
- Assisting the Dispensary Manager in the annual recording of all pharmaceutical stock
- Regular date checking
- Maintaining accurate records and updating patient information as required, manually and by using the computer as appropriate
- Attending the monthly PLT meetings and keeping up to date with personal training.
- Adhering to the uniform policy.
- Assisting the Dispensary Manager in organising adequate relief cover for annual leave and sickness
- Locking up dispensary at the end of a shift
- Being prepared to impart information to any trainee doctor or other healthcare worker about the system and protocols of any aspect of the work when required
- Understanding the need for confidentiality at all times
- Preparation of dossette boxes
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- UK Driving Licence (as travelling between sites will be required)
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy services
