A growing construction and surfacing contractor is looking for a detail‑driven and commercially aware Estimator to join its team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys pricing work accurately, coordinating tender information, and supporting smooth project handovers.
The Role
You’ll play a key part in the tendering and pricing process, ensuring quotations are competitive, accurate and aligned with operational delivery. Working closely with operational, commercial and project teams, you’ll help maintain strong cost visibility and support controlled project execution.
- Reviewing new estimating opportunities and maintaining a clear pipeline
- Preparing take‑offs, quantities and pricing for tenders and quotations
- Obtaining competitive subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Analysing tender documentation to understand scope, risks and commercial considerations
- Tracking tender outcomes, conversion rates and win/loss reasons
- Supporting handover of secured work into live operations
- Maintaining up‑to‑date cost databases and market‑rate information
- Ensuring all estimating records and submissions are accurate and compliant
- Building positive relationships with clients, suppliers and design consultants
- Staying updated on relevant standards, legislation and market changes
Health & Safety
You’ll follow company safety procedures, support incident reporting, and promote a positive safety culture across all estimating activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in estimating or take‑off work within a construction or project‑based environment
- Strong IT skills, including estimating/take‑off software
- Excellent organisation, accuracy and time‑management
- Clear communication skills and a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- CSCS card
- Relevant estimating qualification (HNC/HND/degree or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of NEC/JCT contracts, CVRs or valuation processes
- Understanding of CDM, design management or risk management
