Volunteering with Change Grow Live is a great way to make a real difference in people’s lives whilst gaining valuable experience. Whether you want to give back to your community, develop new skills, or meet like-minded people, there are plenty of reasons to get involved.
Responsibilities:
People who use our services tell us that they can sometimes struggle with feelings of loneliness and isolation. Sometimes they just want to know that they have someone they can talk to.
Some want to talk about things which doesn't directly relate relate to which don’t directly relate to why they have come into contact with Change Grow Live in the first place.
As an Engagement Volunteer you can make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of the people using our services, just through being there to talk and/or listen.
You will be regularly checking-in with people who have asked for this form of support. You’ll be there to listen and to give people the space they need to talk. Having good communication skills will be essential, but we can help you with that. We’ll also make sure you’ve had other relevant training.
From time-to-time there may be information that you will need to pass on to the staff team, so being an attentive listener will be very important, as will the ability to echo relevant information.
Occasionally you may hear things that effect you, so it will be important to be open and honest with your supervisor, particularly about the help and support you may need. Looking after your own wellbeing is also vital.
The role may also act as a ‘meet and greet’ for those people who are new to service, to be a friendly face or listening ear when they are accessing our services.
