Reports to: Provision Lead
Hours: Part-time. 24 hours per week – term time only
Monday, Thursday, Friday 08:30 – 16:30
Pay scale: Starting between £16,000 – 20,000 per year (after pro-rata). Negotiable according to experience.
This role will develop to full time for the right candidate, reviewed on a term-by-term basis.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The role involves being responsible for the day-to-day teaching of the pupils, working with the Lead to develop the structure of the week and provision for the pupils. The provision supports the communities most vulnerable children, at risk of permanent exclusion, on a medium-to-long term basis. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting learners to access their education in a way tailored to their individual needs and pathways.
You will:
o Implement planned learning activities / teaching programmes / interventions as agreed with the provision lead, adjusting activities according to student needs as appropriate.
o Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities, providing feedback on student progress and behaviour.
o Support the lead in monitoring, assessing and recording student progress.
o Support learning by providing resources for lessons / activities.
o Support students in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to Provision Lead / DSL as appropriate.
o Monitor and keep documentation in line with the progress of students.
o Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all students.
o Use behaviour management strategies including positive handling, in line with the school’s policy and procedures which contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
o Work with individual students with special educational needs.
o Assist in the development of Individual Support Plans.
o Assist in the development of referral forms as required.
o Select, prepare and clear away materials and learning areas, ensuring they are available and appropriate for use.
o Support students in developing and implementing their own personal and social skills.
o Assist the Provision Lead with providing feedback and reports to schools and parents as necessary.
o Undertake clerical duties as required.
o Comply with the provisions policies and procedures, upholding the ethos and values.
o Reasonable additional duties may be requested from your line manager.
Person Specification
Essential:
The successful candidate will have:
o At least five A*- C GCSE’s, including English and Mathematics.
o Have relevant, recent behaviour support training.
o An Enhanced DBS.
o Team Teach / Positive handling certification.
The successful candidate will have experience of:
o Working within Secondary School or Alternative Provision setting
o Experience of working in a behaviour support capacity previously
o Experience of working with vulnerable students
o Experience of diversity and delivery of intervention and support at KS3.
The successful candidate will:
o Be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
