We are looking for a practical and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our hotel maintenance team.
This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day maintenance of the hotel, ensuring our guest bedrooms, public areas, equipment and facilities are kept safe, operational and well presented.
Joinery/carpentry skills are preferred but not essential and we are particularly interested in candidates who are confident carrying out general repairs and maintenance in a busy environment.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out day-to-day, preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel
- Responding quickly to maintenance requests, breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Completing repairs in guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house areas
- Carrying out general joinery/carpentry repairs to doors, frames, furniture, fixtures and fittings
- Undertaking basic plumbing, painting, decorating and general repair work
- Assisting with the upkeep of heating, boiler, air-conditioning and other hotel equipment
- Identifying faults and escalating specialist repairs where required
- Working with external contractors and service engineers
- Supporting other hotel departments with maintenance requirements
- Carrying out required fire safety and maintenance checks
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
- Maintaining tools, equipment and maintenance stock
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, handyman work or a similar practical role
- Good general maintenance and repair skills
- Joinery or carpentry experience is highly desirable
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Good attention to detail
- Reliable and able to respond effectively to urgent maintenance issues
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A positive, customer-focused approach
- Awareness of Health & Safety and safe working practices
Previous experience within a hotel or hospitality environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
