Duty of Care Limited is looking for an experienced and committed Responsible Individual (RI) to oversee a well-established 3-bedroom children's home with a Good Ofsted rating.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children's social care professional who is looking for a part-time Responsible Individual position and is passionate about maintaining high standards of care, safeguarding and leadership.
About the Role
As Responsible Individual, you will provide strategic oversight of the home and work closely with the Registered Manager and wider senior management team to ensure the service continues to meet regulatory requirements and delivers high-quality care to children and young people.
The role will require one day per week, with flexibility to attend additional meetings or respond to significant matters when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective oversight and governance of the children's home.
- Ensure the home continues to meet relevant Ofsted and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.
- Work closely with the Registered Manager to monitor the quality and effectiveness of the service.
- Review and challenge practice where necessary.
- Monitor compliance, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure appropriate action is taken in response to incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns.
- Review performance, quality assurance and improvement plans.
- Provide leadership, support and constructive challenge to the management team.
- Maintain appropriate communication with Ofsted and other relevant professionals.
- Promote a positive culture focused on continuous improvement and outcomes for children.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience within children's residential care.
- Has a strong understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and relevant Ofsted requirements.
- Has previous experience in a senior management, Responsible Individual, Registered Manager or equivalent role.
- Has strong safeguarding knowledge.
- Is confident providing challenge and holding managers accountable.
- Has excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Is organised, professional and able to work independently.
- Is committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Can demonstrate strong regulatory and quality assurance knowledge.
