Shop Floor Manager — Ozmen Extra
Location: [Ozmen Extra/ Sheffield] · Hourly Rate: [£15.80 +] · Hours: Full-time, [40] hours including weekends and early starts.
About us
Ozmen Extra is a fast-growing international supermarket group operating large-format stores that bring the best of world foods — Turkish, Middle Eastern, South Asian, Eastern European, African-Caribbean and mainstream ranges — under one roof. Our stores are busy, high-volume operations with full fresh, chilled, produce, grocery and specialist counters. We're looking for an experienced shop floor manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of the floor and set the standard for how a modern world foods supermarket should operate.
The role
Reporting to [the Director/Executives of Ozmen], you'll be responsible for the smooth daily running of the shop floor across all departments. You'll drive availability, standards and service, lead the floor team, and make sure the store trades well every single day. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows retail from the ground up and isn't afraid to lead from the front.
Key responsibilities
- Run the shop floor day to day — availability, replenishment, stock rotation and presentation across grocery, world foods, produce, chilled and ambient
- Lead, motivate and organise the floor team: rotas, delegation, training and on-the-job development
- Own merchandising and store standards — planograms, displays, cleanliness and a consistently well-presented floor
- Manage stock control, deliveries and goods-in, with tight date rotation and waste control
- Work closely with price maintenance and admin to keep shelf-edge pricing accurate and promotions live
- Maintain high customer service standards and deal with customer queries and escalations on the floor
- Uphold food safety, health and safety and due-diligence compliance at all times
- Support opening and closing routines, cash and till oversight, and security
- Monitor and act on key numbers — sales, availability, shrinkage, waste and labour
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Proven experience as a shop floor manager, duty manager or store manager in a supermarket or large-format retail environment
- Genuine world foods / international grocery knowledge and a feel for our customer base
- Strong people management — able to lead, develop and get the best from a diverse team
- Solid grasp of fresh, chilled and produce operations, including waste and availability
- Commercial awareness — margin, shrinkage and cost control
- Food safety and health & safety knowledge (Level 2 minimum; Level 3 desirable)
- Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and peak periods
Desirable:
- Second language relevant to our customer base (e.g. Turkish, Arabic, an Eastern European or South Asian language)
- Experience with EPOS, stock and price-maintenance systems
- Background in high-volume, multi-department stores
What we offer
- [Competitive salary]
- A key leadership role in a growing, ambitious business
- Real scope for progression as the group expands
