DN Colleges is looking for a Construction Lecturer - Carpentry and Joinery to join our Construction department and help inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lecturer or an experienced industry professional looking to move into education. You will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of Further Education programmes, supporting learners to develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required for successful careers within the construction industry.
As part of a committed curriculum team, you will contribute to curriculum development, student achievement, quality assurance activities and the day-to-day delivery of programmes, ensuring students receive an engaging and supportive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Carpentry and Joinery programmes.
- Prepare learning materials, lesson plans and assessment activities that support learner achievement.
- Assess student work, monitor progress and maintain accurate learner records.
- Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to support students in achieving their goals.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of programmes.
- Support course leadership, verification activities and quality assurance processes.
- Help recruit and enrol students onto relevant programmes and contribute to meeting enrolment targets.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the effective delivery and day-to-day running of the curriculum area.
- Participate in staff development, appraisal activities and ongoing professional learning.
Essential Criteria
- An appropriate teaching qualification or substantial industrial experience, with a commitment to work towards a teaching qualification if required.
- Relevant subject expertise in Carpentry and Joinery that will enhance the quality of delivery within the Construction curriculum.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience within a lecturing, training or educational environment, or significant industry experience relevant to the role.
- Knowledge of innovative teaching and learning techniques, curriculum development and the use of ICT to support learning.
