PART-TIME CLEANING TECHNICIAN Location: West London, South West London, Staines, Slough, Windsor, Oxford, Bracknell, Farnborough, Reading and surrounding areas Salary: £15 - £18 per hour, depending on experience Job Type: Part-time, Permanent — 70 contracted hours per month (averaging 16 hours per week) Reference ID: TMC-PT427
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking person to join our team as a Part-Time Cleaning Technician.
This is a hands-on cleaning role, travelling to different client sites and carrying out a mix of deep cleaning, end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning, office cleaning and communal areas cleaning.
It is not an easy job. Some days are physically demanding, some jobs are dirty, and you will need to take real pride in getting difficult tasks done properly. But for the right person - someone who genuinely likes cleaning, enjoys seeing a job transformed, and gets satisfaction from doing work to a high standard - it can be a very rewarding role.
You won't be standing in the same building doing the same task every day. The work is varied, active and practical and you'll be trained to use professional equipment and proper cleaning methods.
WHO THIS ROLE MAY PARTICULARLY SUIT
All applicants will be fairly considered on merit, regardless of background or circumstances. That said, this role can work particularly well for:
- Students who need work that fits around study commitments
- People already in another job (including another cleaning job) who want extra hours
- People with caring or family responsibilities who need a schedule that can flex around them
If you fit one of these situations, we'd encourage you to apply - but this list isn't exhaustive, and we welcome applications from anyone who meets the criteria below.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Your work may include:
- End of tenancy deep cleaning
- Carpet and upholstery cleaning
- Office and commercial cleaning
- Communal areas cleaning in residential blocks
- Floor cleaning and machine work
- Kitchen, bathroom and washroom deep cleaning
- Specialist cleaning tasks after training
Full training will be provided, but you must be willing to learn and work hard.
WHO THIS JOB WOULD SUIT
This role would suit someone who:
- Takes pride in clean, tidy and well-finished work
- Likes practical, physical work
- Is reliable and turns up when expected
- Can work carefully without constant supervision
- Has good attention to detail
- Is willing to learn proper cleaning techniques
- Is comfortable working at different sites
- Can stay calm and professional when jobs are challenging
- Can handle feedback and criticism professionally
- Can work at a quick but realistic pace without cutting corners
You do not need to be perfect on day one. We are happy to train the right person. But you do need the right attitude.
RESILIENCE, FEEDBACK AND PACE
This job requires resilience.
Cleaning can be physically demanding, and occasionally clients may be critical - sometimes fairly, sometimes unfairly. You need to be able to listen, stay professional, learn from feedback where appropriate, and not take every comment personally.
You will also need to work at a good pace. We do not expect impossible speed or rushed, poor-quality work, but this is a professional cleaning role and jobs need to be completed efficiently. The right person will be able to work quickly, carefully and realistically, while still maintaining high standards.
Over time, your speed, confidence and skill will improve - but you must be willing to keep learning and keep going when the work is difficult.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
- Reliable, honest and hardworking
- Good practical common sense
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work as part of a small team
- Able to work independently after training
- Willing to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends when required
- At least basic spoken and written English
- Physically able to carry out active cleaning work
- Resilient and open to feedback
- Able to travel independently to different job sites
Strongly preferred:
- Full UK driving licence
- Previous cleaning experience
- Experience with end of tenancy cleaning, carpet cleaning, office cleaning or deep cleaning
A driving licence is preferable, as most work involves travelling between sites, and a company vehicle can be provided. However, candidates with a strong cleaning background will still be considered provided they can travel to various job sites independently. Some travel expenses will be covered.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
We see cleaning as a skilled trade, not just unskilled labour.
Professional cleaning takes time to learn properly. You'll be shown how to use equipment, products and systems correctly, and how to complete work to the standard our clients expect.
If you are new to the industry, it may take several months of hands-on training before you are ready to work independently on more complex jobs.
Over time, there may be opportunities to:
- Specialise in carpet cleaning or floor care
- Take responsibility for certain contracts
- Help train newer team members
- Move into a more senior technician role
WORKING HOURS
This is a part-time role of 70 contracted hours per month (averaging 16 hours per week), and these hours are guaranteed. Additional hours beyond your contracted 70 are usually available for anyone who wants them.
Start and end times and working days will vary from week to week, as cleaning work is scheduled around client needs - this can include early mornings, evenings and some weekend work.
Flexibility goes both ways. Start times can often be adjusted to fit around family, work or study commitments, and there is often scope to start early and finish sooner, or start later in the day and finish later. Where possible, we try to build a schedule that works for you, provided the work can still be covered properly.
WHY JOIN US?
We are a small, established cleaning business - not a big corporate company.
Many of our team members stay with us because we try to treat people properly and create a working environment where good cleaners are valued.
We offer:
- £15 - £18 per hour, depending on experience
- Guaranteed 70 hours per month, with additional hours usually available
- Genuinely flexible scheduling around your commitments
- Company pension
- Full holiday entitlement
- Proper training and support
- Equipment, products and uniform provided
- Varied work across different sites
- A practical, respectful team environment
- Opportunity to learn specialist cleaning skills
- Potential progression for the right person
We use decent equipment, pay properly, and respect people who take pride in doing a good job.
THE REALITY OF THE JOB
This job is hard work.
You may be cleaning dirty ovens, bathrooms, carpets, floors, communal areas or properties that have been left in poor condition. Some jobs are tiring. Some jobs require patience and persistence.
There may also be days when a client is demanding, a job takes longer than expected, or feedback feels frustrating. We need someone who can stay calm, keep perspective, and continue working professionally.
But if you are the kind of person who enjoys making things clean, likes seeing clear results from your work, and takes satisfaction from doing a job properly, this can be a genuinely rewarding position.
We are looking for someone who wants a proper part-time role with reliable, guaranteed hours - not just a short-term or casual gig.
