Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Line Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team at the Savoy Country Inn. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent culinary skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within your designated section, ensuring high standards of food quality and consistency with our specification.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation and Cooking:
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to the menu and recipe specifications.
- Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely and professional manner.
Quality Control:
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and presentation.
- Monitor portion sizes and presentation to ensure consistency across all dishes.
- Conduct regular quality checks of ingredients and finished dishes.
Kitchen Operations:
- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and orderly at all times.
- Follow proper storage and rotation procedures to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Carry out regular stock checks
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other members of the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation.
- Communicate effectively with the Head Chef regarding any issues or needs.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff and new team members.
Health and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety and hygiene standards.
- Participate in regular health and safety training.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions to management immediately.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Line Cook or similar role in a busy kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Desirable:
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Familiarity with Marston's food specification
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

- Passionate about cooking and creating high-quality dishes.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
