About Us
The Abbey Sports Bar & Kitchen is a lively sports bar in Gloucester serving a varied food menu alongside live sport, drinks and a great atmosphere.
Our menu ranges from freshly prepared pizzas and burgers to pub favourites, main meals, sides and sharing dishes. With busy match days, weekends and events, we need a Chef who can work at pace while keeping food quality and presentation consistent.
The Role
We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Chef to join our kitchen team.
You'll be involved in all areas of the kitchen, from preparation and cooking through to maintaining excellent hygiene standards. You'll need to be comfortable working across a varied menu and handling busy services, particularly during major sporting events and weekends.
Your Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking dishes from our full menu
- Producing pizzas, burgers, main meals, sides and sharing dishes
- Ensuring every dish is cooked and presented consistently
- Preparing the kitchen ahead of service
- Working efficiently during busy match days and peak periods
- Following portion control and recipe specifications
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Following allergen and food safety procedures
- Receiving and correctly storing deliveries
- Monitoring stock levels and helping reduce food waste
- Supporting other members of the kitchen team
- Keeping the kitchen organised throughout service
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working as a Chef in a pub, restaurant, bar or similar kitchen
- Comfortable working with a varied menu
- Able to work quickly and calmly during busy services
- Good understanding of food hygiene and allergens
- Reliable, organised and punctual
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Pride in the quality and presentation of food
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy sporting events
