HR Advisor (Part- time)
Salary: £14,400-£15,500 per annum for 18 hours per week (FTE £30,000 - £32,000)

The role:
As HR Advisor, you will provide professional, practical HR advice and support across the business while ensuring an excellent employee and candidate experience. Working closely with the HR Advisory Lead and managers, you will support employee relations processes, sickness absence management, probation reviews, onboarding, HR administration, and employee engagement activities, while assisting with recruitment and training activity as required.
The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organised, confident advising managers, and able to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels.
This is a role based at our headquarters in Kendal.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees in line with company policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
- Support employee relations processes, including absence management, probation, performance, conduct, and capability matters, escalating complex cases where appropriate.
- Prepare HR documentation, including letters, meeting notes, contracts, onboarding documentation, and other employee lifecycle paperwork.
- Ensure employee records are accurate, confidential, and maintained in line with GDPR and company policies.
- Support recruitment activity as required, including posting job adverts, coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
- Assist with onboarding new employees, ensuring all pre-employment documentation is completed and induction activities are arranged.
- Support training activity as required, including coordinating training programmes, maintaining training records, and monitoring mandatory training completion.
- Coordinate and support first-stage review meetings for absence management and probation, including preparing documentation, arranging meetings, taking notes, and following up on agreed actions.
- Coordinate occupational health appointments and site visits, including liaising with providers, managers, and employees, preparing relevant documentation, and following up on outcomes where required.
- Maintain and update HR systems, ensuring information is accurate, up to date, and used effectively to support HR processes and reporting.
- Support effective time management processes, including monitoring deadlines, coordinating reminders, and ensuring HR actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with the ongoing improvement of HR systems and administrative processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Support employee engagement initiatives by helping organise company events, wellbeing activities, occupational health-related activities, and internal communications.
- Build positive working relationships with employees and managers and provide a professional first point of contact for routine HR, recruitment, and training queries.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures, including safe working practices and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Take responsibility for supporting the company's commitment to Product Legality, Quality, and Authenticity by following company policies and procedures at all times.
What you’ll need:
Essential
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor, HR generalist, or similar HR support role.
- Minimum Level 3 CIPD qualification, or working towards Level 5 CIPD qualification.
- Understanding of HR policies, employee relations processes, and employment legislation.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Confident using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A positive, proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting recruitment campaigns, interviewing, or candidate management.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience coordinating training activity or maintaining training records.
