Conveyancing Assistant
Job Purpose
Working within our Residential Conveyancing team you will support Conveyancing Executives with their varied caseload from instruction through to completion and registration. You will be responsible for ensuring you maintain ongoing high performance and deliver a quality, client focused operation.
You will contribute towards the meeting of financial targets set and ensure the delivery of excellent, added value client service, which continually exceeds client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management
- Maintain and build good professional working relationships with clients and external organisations
- Develop and improve client service standards, adopting a total client care culture throughout the department
Technical Responsibilities
- Preparing draft financial statements and arranging completions
- Undertaking relevant searches and prepare search reports
- Drafting and the issuing of contract packs
- Preparing mortgage reports
- Liaising with clients and third parties to manage expectations
- Requesting redemption statements
- Adhering to and promoting compliance with the Conveyancing Quality Scheme and the firm’s policies, practices and procedures; legislation applicable to the profession and to any relevant quality standards
- Through training and other means, to keep fully up to date with relevant legislation and practice
Knowledge & Experience
- Previous experience of working as a legal assistant in a conveyancing department (desirable)
- Good knowledge of services within Birchall Blackburn Law
- Good inter-personal skills, able to deal with all levels within an organisation and relieve potential conflicts
- A client focused approach to service delivery
- Strong experience using case management systems
- Strong experience in using Microsoft office tools – Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
- Working knowledge of the CQS Protocol, UKFML and BSA Handbooks
- Self-motivated and able to prioritise and work under pressure to strict deadlines/timescales
- Excellent communication skills and telephone manner
- Excellent attention to detail
