About the Role
Bale's Farm is offering a Supported Dog Grooming Apprenticeship (Level 2) for post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs (SEND), delivered in partnership with an approved education provider.
This apprenticeship combines practical, hands-on experience in our purpose-built training salon with additional support to help learners build confidence, develop employability skills, and gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Working alongside experienced dog groomers, you'll learn how to care for dogs of all breeds and sizes while providing a high standard of grooming in a friendly, supportive environment.
What Support Is Available?
As part of this supported apprenticeship, learners may receive:

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, drying and preparing dogs for grooming
- Learn a range of grooming techniques for different breeds and coat types
- Brush, clip and style dogs under supervision
- Safely handle and care for dogs throughout the grooming process
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the salon
- Prepare grooming equipment and ensure it is cleaned and maintained
- Welcome customers and communicate professionally with pet owners
- Support with booking appointments and general salon administration
- Work as part of the team to provide excellent customer service
What You Will Learn
During your apprenticeship you will develop practical skills in:
- Safe handling and welfare of dogs

- Clipping, trimming and styling techniques
- Breed-specific grooming
- Health and safety within a professional grooming salon

Apprenticeship Details
This is a Level 2 Dog Grooming Apprenticeship delivered in partnership with an approved education provider.
Learners will complete practical, work-based learning while building a portfolio of evidence throughout the programme. Assessment may include:
- Practical observations
- A portfolio of work
- Professional discussion
- End-point assessment
Career Progression
Successful completion of this apprenticeship could lead to roles such as:
- Dog Grooming Assistant
- Professional Dog Groomer
- Salon Supervisor (with experience)
It may also provide opportunities to progress onto higher-level grooming qualifications or further training within the animal care industry.
