Relief Milker Wanted – Holworth, Dorchester

About Us
We are a small, family-run dairy farm in Holworth, Dorchester. We manage a high-performing, well-behaved, and calm herd of 200 New Zealand-type spring calving cows. Our milking setup is a nice, straightforward 20:40 herringbone parlour with no ACRs—keeping things efficient and simple.
The Role
We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and conscientious Relief Milker to join us. For us, finding the right person is much more important than a rigid schedule. We are highly flexible. The shift pattern options would ideally look like below.
Shift Options/Patterns would look something like:
- 3 days of relief milking per week (6:00 AM – 10:00 AM & 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM), including a 1-in-2 weekend rotation.
- 5 evening shifts per week (3.30PM – 7:00 PM), plus every other weekend (both 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM & 3.30 PM – 7:00 PM).
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely retrieving the herd from the fields prior to milking using a quad bike.
- Undertaking morning and/or evening milkings in our 20:40 herringbone parlour.
- Scraping out the yard after milking using a tractor.
- Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and stockmanship.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience in dairy milking is essential.
- Skills: Competent and safe quad bike operation. Tractor experience is not essential, but it is an added bonus.
- Traits: Trustworthy, reliable, and a calm approach to handling livestock.
