Job Role
We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Manager to join the team delivering the landmark Old Oak Common Station project, a major part of the HS2 programme and one of the largest rail infrastructure developments in Europe.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident stakeholder engagement professional who enjoys building relationships, managing complex community issues and ensuring that local people, businesses and stakeholders remain informed, supported and engaged throughout the construction lifecycle.
Working closely with project teams, local communities, contractors and HS2 stakeholders, you will play a vital role in protecting and enhancing the project's reputation while helping to deliver meaningful engagement and community investment initiatives.
Duties
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local residents, businesses, community groups and key project stakeholders.
- Developing and delivering community engagement and liaison plans.
- Supporting stakeholder mapping and engagement activities across the project area.
- Working collaboratively with construction, environmental, engineering and project teams to understand upcoming works and mitigate potential community impacts.
- Managing community enquiries and complaints, ensuring issues are investigated, resolved and communicated professionally and within agreed timescales.
- Organising and attending public exhibitions, consultations, community forums and stakeholder meetings.
- Producing engagement materials including newsletters, presentations, briefings, reports and community updates.
- Supporting community investment, social value and corporate responsibility initiatives.
- Providing guidance and awareness training to project teams on community sensitivities and stakeholder considerations.
- Monitoring engagement performance and contributing to project reporting requirements.
- Supporting reputation management by identifying risks and opportunities and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Acting as a champion for project values, ensuring all engagement activities are delivered with professionalism, integrity and respect.
Person Specification
- Significant experience in a community engagement, stakeholder engagement, community relations or public affairs role within a construction, infrastructure or housing project.
- Proven experience working with members of the public and external stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Strong experience handling enquiries, complaints and sensitive issues professionally and effectively.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, transportation, utilities, rail or major projects.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Degree qualified or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with both operational and project teams.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday
