Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our care team.
Looking to work 6 hours a week or 36 Hours a week? Very Flexible days and hours, as position can be filled by several candidates.
The ideal candidate will organise engaging and meaningful activities tailored to the needs of residents in nursing home. This role is vital in enhancing residents' quality of life through creative programme planning and personalised engagement. Applicants should possess a genuine passion for senior care. Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities suitable for residents with diverse needs, this can include those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Develop personalised activity plans in collaboration with care teams and family members, ensuring they align with individual care plans and behaviour management strategies.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, light exercise sessions like yoga or gentle movement, and social events to promote socialisation and mental stimulation.
- Visit Residents in their Rooms for 1:1 activities
- Assist residents with activity participation, providing encouragement and support to foster engagement and independence.
- Monitor residents’ responses during activities, adjusting programmes as necessary to ensure safety and enjoyment.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress in activity logs for case management purposes.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff to incorporate medication administration schedules and medical considerations into activity planning.
- Support residents with meal preparation activities when appropriate, encouraging independence and social interaction during mealtimes.
- Manage behaviour effectively using behaviour management techniques to ensure a positive environment for all residents.
- Ensure the safety of residents during activities by adhering to health and safety protocols, including first aid procedures when necessary.
Experience:
- Previous experience working in nursing homes, care homes or home care environments is highly advantageous.
- Experience in organising activities for elderly individuals with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's is a plus
- Candidates should demonstrate excellent organisational skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs. Pay: £12.21-£13.50 per hour
