Role Profile
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take their first step into a career in finance. Working within the Burnley and Barrowford Finance team, the role will support day-to-day transactional finance activities across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and cash.
The role will provide exposure to a manufacturing environment, with opportunities to develop knowledge and responsibility over time.
Full support will be provided to study towards an AAT qualification alongside gaining practical experience within the role.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Process, check and post purchase ledger invoices accurately and in a timely manner

Assist with supplier payment runs and respond to supplier queries

Maintain supplier accounts, including statement reconciliations

Post and allocate cash receipts and supplier payments

Support the maintenance of daily and weekly cashbook records

Raise and issue customer invoices

Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions in line with company policy

Support the month-end close process with the wider finance team.

Assist with administration of timesheets.

Assist in maintaining the fixed asset register, including additions and updates

Provide support with cost tracking and basic variance analysis, helping to identify differences between actual and expected costs

Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Finance team as required
Person Specification

Keen to begin a career in finance and accounting

Educated to a good standard, particularly in Maths and English

Strong Excel and general IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications

Good attention to detail and willingness to learn

Well organised, with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and team-oriented approach

Comfortable working with numbers and interested in developing an understanding of accounting principles and processes

Interested in working within a manufacturing environment and developing knowledge of operational finance and cost accounting

Motivated to study towards an AAT qualification with company support
