Engineering Team Lead - £70,000-£80,000 (1 day a week onsite) - Stockport
We're looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our growing engineering team and play a key role in developing our enterprise SaaS platform. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity, ideal for a Senior Software Engineer, Lead Developer or Technical Lead ready to take the next step into people management.
Leading a team of around five Software Engineers, you'll provide technical direction, coaching and day-to-day leadership while remaining actively involved in software design, development and delivery. Working closely with Product, QA, Infrastructure and Architecture, you'll help deliver secure, scalable, high-quality software.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of five engineers.
- Remain hands-on with Java development, solution design and code reviews.
- Work with Product to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Champion Agile delivery, clean code, automated testing, CI/CD and DevOps.
- Support cloud-based SaaS applications, production systems and continuous improvement.
- Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and AI-assisted development practices.
Skills & Experience
- Strong Java and modern JavaScript development experience.
- Experience building cloud-based SaaS applications.
- Knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, microservices, AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes and Git.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and modern engineering practices.
- Experience mentoring developers or leading a small team; previous line management is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of C++
