Job Description
Working to the core values and operational standards of Blue Reef Aquarium Portsmouth, the role of General Assistant will provide excellent customer service at all times. Assisting in the running of the catering outlet in an efficient manner, maximising sales and complying with all hygiene rules and regulations. You will provide the friendly welcome to the attraction; process ticket and retail sales, ensuring an efficient flow of visitors. You will assist in bringing our exhibits to life by delivering up to date talks, tours, educational sessions and birthday parties.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- To welcome and interact with visitors and offer excellent service at all times. Be presentable, professional, friendly with a positive approach (smile) at all times.
- To assist in opening and closing outlets in accordance with procedures
- To prepare food to the highest quality, following all health and safety and hygiene procedures
- To be cost conscious with regard to wastage and portion size
- To maintain a safe and clean kitchen, servery and seating area at all times
- To follow correct procedures, including till procedures, at all times
- To deliver exciting, entertaining and educational birthday parties when requested ensuring that all aspects of the birthday party are catered for
- When supporting retail, make an effective contribution to achieving sales targets including the delivery of toys, souvenir guidebook sales, annual passes, premium products, and other related saleable products.
- Ensure all saleable products are on display, correctly priced and that stock levels are maintained as appropriate.
- Deliver set presentations and daily feeds to a world class standard at all times
- To complete all paperwork according to procedure

Requirements

- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Must take a hands on approach to work
- Capable of working efficiently
- To work as per the rota that may include evening hours to assist with functions
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance
