Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant (Nights) to provide high-quality support to residents in a care home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing, safety, and comfort of individuals during overnight shifts. Duties
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, and mobility during night hours
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing throughout the shift, reporting any concerns to senior staff
- Support residents with medication administration in accordance with care plans
- Ensure the safety and security of the care environment during overnight hours
- Document observations and any incidents accurately and promptly
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring atmosphere
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including infection control protocols
- Assist with meal preparation or refreshments as required during night shifts
Skills
- Good communication skills in English, with the ability to listen attentively and respond empathetically
- Basic IT skills for maintaining accurate records and updating care plans electronically
- Driving licence is desirable for supporting residents with outings or appointments outside the care home
- Experience working within a care home or home care setting is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of care plans and procedures to deliver personalised support effectively
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities calmly during night shifts
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with residents and colleagues
