The Role
As a Factory Operative, you'll be an important part of our manufacturing operation, helping to produce high-quality bespoke work surfaces for our customers.
You'll work as part of a team across different stages of the production process, carrying out tasks such as material handling, machine operation, finishing, quality checking, and preparing products for dispatch.
You'll be trained to operate production equipment and use hand tools safely and effectively, while following clear work instructions and maintaining the high standards Athena Worksurfaces is known for.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a good job, and wants to develop within a growing manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of tasks across the factory production process.
- Operate machinery and production equipment safely and efficiently following full training.
- Use hand tools and specialist equipment as required.
- Handle and move materials and finished products safely.
- Follow production drawings, measurements, specifications, and work instructions.
- Carry out visual quality checks to ensure products meet company and customer standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area.
- Complete routine equipment checks and report any issues to supervisors or management.
- Work effectively as part of a team to achieve daily production targets and delivery deadlines.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Be flexible and willing to support different areas of the factory when required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for people who are reliable, practical, and keen to learn.
You don't necessarily need previous experience in the stone industry. What's most important is a positive attitude, good work ethic, and willingness to learn new skills
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, production, or factory environments.
- Experience operating machinery and using hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Good mechanical aptitude and confidence working with production equipment.
- The ability to interpret measurements and carry out basic calculations.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- A reliable, honest, and hardworking attitude.
- The ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Experience within the stone industry, but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role that requires you to:
- Stand for extended periods.
- Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting.
- Work safely within a busy manufacturing environment.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to meet production demands including shift work
