Kickstart Your Career in Management Accounting
Are you an ambitious, detail-focused finance professional looking to build your career in management accounting?
The Great British Confectionery Group, bringing together much-loved UK brands including Montezuma’s Chocolates and Bristows of Devon, is looking for a Junior Management Accountant to join our growing Finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related subject who wants to develop their technical accounting skills while working closely with an experienced Finance Manager.
About the Role
As Junior Management Accountant, you will play an important role in supporting the Finance Manager and wider business with accurate, timely and reliable financial information.
You will be involved in a broad range of management accounting activities, including:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Carrying out cost and variance analysis and helping to explain movements against budget.
- Supporting effective cost control and identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring established processes and controls are followed.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of financial processes and internal controls.
- Supporting year-end accounts preparation and external audits.
- Providing financial information and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Assisting the Finance Manager with ad-hoc finance projects and tasks.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, methodical and naturally detail-oriented.
Accuracy is essential in this role. You will be working with financial information and established processes where getting the detail right matters, so we need someone who takes pride in producing accurate work and following procedures consistently.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related subject.
- Have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
- Have excellent attention to detail and a logical, analytical approach.
- Be comfortable working with established processes, procedures and financial controls.
- Be highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Have strong Excel skills and be comfortable learning accounting/ERP systems.
- Be able to communicate financial information clearly and confidently.
- Be proactive, dependable and keen to learn.
- Take ownership of their work and follow through on tasks.
- Understand the importance of doing things correctly, consistently and ethically — even when nobody is checking.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
This role will suit someone who enjoys structure, accuracy and getting things right.
You don't need to be the most creative person in the room. What matters more to us is that you are logical, thorough, consistent and trustworthy. You will be working within established Finance processes and controls, so being able to follow procedures carefully and spot when something doesn't look right is extremely important.
If you are the type of person who checks their work twice, keeps excellent records, follows a process from start to finish and takes pride in getting the detail right, you could be a great fit for this role.
