Overview
Working as part of the Accounts Department at Goosemoor Foodservice and reporting to the Financial Controller and company Directors, this role assists in the day to day running of the department, primarily responsible for providing accurate, timely and useful information to the wider business and external parties. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual to step up into a position with broad roles and responsibilities with the ability to make it their own.
Duties
- Overview and review of all accounting procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness
- Preparation and submission of statutory returns
- Bank, Cash and account reconciliation
- Maintenance of nominal ledger and accounting functions
- Maintenance of Fixed Asset register
- Preparation of monthly management accounts in a timely manner
- Compilation of accruals, prepayments, intercompany reconciliations
- Preparation of year end accounts and associated adjustments
- Lead contact on internal and external audit requests
- Lead contact from internal departments to assist with financial queries and reporting
- Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on best practices in financial accounting and management
- Point of escalation for suppliers/customers
- Process implementation and improvement
- Delegation of duties as appropriate
- Holiday cover
- Any other ad hoc requests
Qualifications
- Proven experience within the finance sector.
- Strong understanding of financial management principles including financial accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience in managing accounts payable processes and analysing complex financial data.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., AAT Level 4) is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
