The Role
From busy daytime sessions to atmospheric Pumpkin Nights, the bar is an important part of the Hobbledown Heath Pumpkin Patch experience. As a Bar Host, you'll combine fast, accurate service with warm Hobbledown hospitality, preparing drinks, handling payments and keeping the bar clean, stocked and ready for the next rush. You'll need to be equally comfortable chatting with families and working at pace when queues build.
What you'll be doing
- Welcome guests, take orders and prepare and serve hot, cold and alcoholic drinks consistently, following recipes, measures and presentation standards.
- Process cash and card transactions accurately, complete till checks as directed and raise any payment or pricing issues promptly.
- Know the menu, recommend and upsell seasonal drinks and snacks, explain available options, and refer allergen questions through the correct process.
- Follow food-hygiene, health-and-safety, licensing and Challenge 25 procedures, escalating refusals of service or guest concerns to a supervisor.
- Restock and rotate products, monitor levels and waste, support opening and closing tasks, and keep bars, counters and queue areas clean and organised.
What we're looking for
- A friendly, attentive and confident host who enjoys guest contact and can stay composed during busy service periods.
- Good accuracy and basic numeracy, with the confidence to use tills, follow recipes and manage several orders at once.
- Reliable and flexible availability across weekends, the daily half-term run and selected evening Pumpkin Nights.
- Stamina for standing, carrying stock and working in an outdoor event environment, together with a practical and supportive team attitude.
Experience that helps (not essential)
Experience in a bar, café, restaurant, festival, visitor attraction, kiosk or high-volume retail setting all translates well. Barista, till or stock-control experience is useful but not essential, as full role training will be provided.
Why join Hobbledown?
You'll join a friendly seasonal food-and-drink team, receive full training and work in a lively event setting that shifts from relaxed autumn days to atmospheric evenings, with plenty of variety and shared team energy.
