Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of residents in our care community. This vital role involves designing, planning, and leading engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for seniors. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, compassion, and excellent communication skills to foster a lively and supportive environment. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse calendar of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Lead engaging group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, and sensory experiences
- Foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and social connection among residents
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual preferences and adapt activities accordingly
- Monitor residents’ engagement levels and adjust programs to ensure safety and enjoyment
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback for continuous improvement
- Support residents in maintaining independence through personalized activity planning
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living or care/nursing home environments with a focus on senior care and dementia support
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer’s care principles and caregiving best practices
- Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Creative mindset with the ability to design innovative activities that stimulate mind and body
- Compassionate approach with a genuine passion for enhancing seniors’ quality of life
- Ability to work independently while collaborating seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to activity facilitation in care home settings
