Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager to help lead our garden centre café team. In this role, you will work closely with the Cafe Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and maintain high standards of food safety and quality. Your leadership will inspire your team to deliver exceptional customer service for every customer, while managing the front of house and kitchen areas efficiently. Responsibilities
- Supervise daily café operations, including food & drink preparation, serving, customer interactions, and cash handling.
- Lead and motivate a team of baristas, servers, and kitchen staff to deliver outstanding service
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across all areas
- Oversee food production processes, including cooking and preparing menu items with precision and care
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and monitor stock to minimize waste and control costs
- Train new team members on food safety procedures, customer service protocols, and operational standards
- Handle customer enquiries, resolve issues promptly, and foster a welcoming atmosphere for all guests
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong team management skills with the ability to lead by example
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices
- Previous experience in a café, restaurant, or hotel environment is desirable
- Familiarity with food production processes and kitchen operations
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
