We are looking for a Cleaning Area Manager to manage and coordinate day-to-day cleaning operations across a portfolio of assigned sites in London and Outer London. This is a field-based, self-employed role reporting to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will act as the key link between site teams, clients, HR, Operations, and the Corporate Team — ensuring schedules are followed, service standards are met, staffing and equipment needs are covered, and accurate reporting reaches the business on time.
Experience
● Previous experience in a cleaning, facilities management, or property services supervisory/area management role is preferred.
● Experience managing multiple sites and mobile teams.
● Experience with commercial and/or deep cleaning operations and standards.
● Track record of client-facing relationship management and resolving operational issues independently.
● Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, and training of frontline staff.
Mandatory Requirements
Site Management & Schedule Adherence
● Ensure all assigned sites are visited per the agreed schedule and that service delivery meets required standards.
● Monitor attendance and schedule adherence; communicate any changes to the Corporate Team promptly.
● Conduct regular site checks and provide accurate condition/status updates, including photo and video evidence.
Client Management
● Maintain continuous, professional engagement with clients and present a professional image at all times.
● Independently manage low- to medium-complexity client issues; escalate complex matters and remain involved until resolved.
● Ensure client concerns are addressed within agreed SLAs and expectations are clearly communicated to teams.
Stock Management
● Ensure teams have the correct supplies, materials, and equipment to deliver services effectively.
● Monitor equipment condition and availability; manage movement of equipment between teams and sites efficiently.
● Maintain accountability of allocated equipment and support PAT testing requirements where applicable.
Team Management
● Manage day-to-day team performance, conduct, attendance, and presentation standards.
● Provide regular, constructive feedback and structured monthly team input to the Corporate Team.
● Arrange backup cover for planned leave, sickness, or unexpected absence to maintain continuity of service.
End-to-End Recruitment
● Identify staffing requirements and support hiring of suitable candidates in line with Company processes.
● Plan ahead for vacancies, leave, and sickness to ensure adequate operational cover.
● Support full onboarding (including key handovers, documentation, and statutory requirements) and manage offboarding in line with Company policy.
Reporting & Documentation
● Prepare and submit regular reports on site adherence, staffing, attendance, and operational performance.
● Maintain accurate records including weekly leave reports and monthly structured team feedback.
● Use Google Forms and other company digital tools to submit information accurately and on time.
Stakeholder Management
● Maintain effective working relationships with the Corporate Team, clients, site teams, HR, and Operations.
● Act as the communication link between field teams and the Corporate Team, balancing competing priorities.
● Escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately while retaining ownership through to resolution.
Commercial & Deep Cleaning Knowledge
● Working knowledge of commercial cleaning standards, processes, and equipment (e.g. hoovers, jet washers, carpet-cleaning machines).
● Understanding of deep cleaning methods and health & safety requirements, including COSHH and risk assessments.
● Ability to train and guide teams on correct, safe use of cleaning equipment and site-specific quality standards.
UK Driving Licence & Safe Driving
● Full, valid UK driving licence required, with a clean or acceptable driving record.
● Confident and safe driving between multiple sites across London and Outer London, in line with UK road safety regulations.
● Responsible use, care, and reporting of any damage to the company vehicle provided for the role.
Planning, Prioritisation & Multitasking
● Ability to plan and organise site visits, staffing, client matters, and reporting simultaneously and effectively.
● Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changes in schedules, staffing, and operational priorities.
● Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple sites, teams, and stakeholders at once, within agreed SLAs.
