We are looking for a conscientious, proactive, and cheerful Maintenance Cleaner / Site Caretaker to join our team at our offices, production warehouse, and grounds.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining thorough cleaning to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, general maintenance, machine-part cleaning, and grounds care. You will help keep the entire site running smoothly and looking its best every day.
Main Duties
- Daily cleaning and validation of machine parts to support quick production changeovers
- Thorough cleaning of offices, warehouse, staff toilets, canteen/kitchen areas, laboratory, and production floors (cleaned when production is not running, typically at the end of the day). Production finishes at 4:30pm.
- General maintenance inside and out: changing lightbulbs, small repairs, light plumbing, minor paint jobs, and fixing small infrastructure issues, to give you an idea
- Grounds and garden maintenance, including use of small machinery and tools, plus keeping the car park tidy
- Proactive site inspection – spotting and addressing dirt, damage, or anything that needs attention
- Opening the premises in the morning and/or locking up in the evening (this responsibility will increase as trust develops)
- Accurate completion of GMP paperwork and following our established policies and procedures (full training provided)
- Liaising with the manager to arrange external contractors when jobs are beyond scope
Cleaning duties typically take around 10 hours per week. The rest of the time is focused on machine-part cleanups, production-area support, maintenance, and grounds work. Some tasks are regular, but flexibility is needed as priorities arise.
About You
- Some previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, caretaking, and grounds work preferred
- Practical by nature with a general knowledge of minor repairs, painting, and basic gardening
- Proactive, reliable, and trustworthy – you naturally look for things that need doing rather than waiting to be told
- Cheerful and helpful attitude with a positive approach to work
- Good common sense, attention to detail (especially for machine cleaning and paperwork), and the ability to assess when a job needs a specialist contractor
- Able to work independently as well as take direction from managers
- Comfortable learning and following our GMP standards and procedures (prior GMP experience not required – full training given)
A Hygiene qualification would be useful but is not essential.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly rate up to £13.50 for the right person
- Flexible working pattern with a generous 2 to 2.5 hour lunch break
- Opportunity to increase responsibilities (e.g. opening/locking) as you prove yourself
- Full training on our systems, GMP requirements, and validation processes
- A supportive environment where initiative and a positive attitude are genuinely valued
The right candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety, and wants to be a trusted part of the team.
Apply with your CV and a short covering letter telling us why you would be a good fit.
Local candidates are particularly welcome due to the shift pattern and lunch break, but all suitable applicants will be considered.
We look forward to hearing from you.
