Job Overview
Please be aware that this position is bank work on a zero hours contract.
The Homemaker does whatever is needed to support the sisters to living in an Ursuline house.
Activities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the sisters with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting if necessary
- Administering medication and completing the MAR chart
- Monitoring sister’s wellbeing as required
- Supporting the sisters with their mobility needs
- Being a friend and a companion
- From time to time cooking and serving food, assisting with meals if necessary.
- General tidying and help to keep rooms looking their best.
- Cleaning duties to include hoovering and cleaning shower rooms / toilets
- Liaising with medical professionals in an emergency
- Calling 111 or 999 in an emergency and accompanying the sister to hospital during the contracted hours
Skills
- Recent experience as a Healthcare assistant
- Well-developed verbal & written English speaking communication skills.
- Ability to do written records in English as requested.
- Ability to undertake and pass on-line training.
- Ability to develop working relationships with others.
- Time management and personal organisation skills
- Calm and respectful under pressure
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively.
- Good interpersonal skills
