We are looking for a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Senior Carer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role where you will support our care staff in the community, maintain high standards of care, and ensure our clients receive safe, effective, and compassionate support.
As a Senior Carer, you will lead by example, provide guidance to care staff, carry out quality assurance visits and spot checks, support new and existing team members, and work closely with the management team to continuously improve the quality of our service. This role will also consist of hands on care where needed for cover.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to clients in their own homes.
- Carry out regular spot checks and competency observations to ensure care is delivered in line with company policies, CQC regulations, and best practice.
- Support, mentor, and supervise Care Assistants, providing coaching and constructive feedback.
- Support with client reviews and contribute to the development and updating of personalised care plans and risk assessments.
- Administer and audit medication where required, ensuring safe medication practices are followed.
- Monitor the quality of care provided and promptly report any concerns or safeguarding issues.
- Competency checks and sign offs
- Communicate effectively with clients, relatives, healthcare professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Promote independence, dignity, choice, and respect in every aspect of care.
- Respond to emergency situations, provide guidance to care staff, and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Assist with covering care calls where required to ensure continuity of care.
- Support with quality assurance audits and help maintain compliance with CQC standards.
- Represent AMG Care Services professionally within the community and promote our values at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience within the care sector, minimum of 2 years
- A Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience carrying out spot checks, supervision, or mentoring staff is desirable.
- A good understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards, safeguarding, moving and handling, medication management, and person-centred care.
- Confident IT skills, including the use of electronic care planning systems.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and make sound decisions.
- A compassionate, reliable, and professional approach.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel within the community is essential.
