The role
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious 3.5 Tonne Driver / MEWP Operator to transport our mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs/cherry pickers) from our Wrotham yard to customer sites across London and the South East. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering equipment to site, liaising with site teams, and safely operating the machine to support customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a 3.5 tonne vehicle transporting access equipment to customer sites.
- Carry out daily vehicle and equipment safety inspections.
- Deliver and collect MEWPs in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
- Meet site managers, contractors, and customer teams on arrival.
- Operate MEWPs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site safety procedures.
- Conduct pre-use checks and ensure equipment remains safe and operational throughout the hire period.
- Complete delivery, collection, and inspection documentation accurately.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism on site.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including working at height procedures.
- Report any defects, incidents, or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Assist with basic yard duties and equipment preparation when required.
What you’ll need
- Full, clean UK driving licence (minimum 3 years)
- Good attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable and able to work independently or in a team
- Good communication skills
- IPAF 1b is not essential but advantageous. Experience with Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP’s) is also not essential but advantageous
- Full training is provided
Pay
Competitive basic salary, with the starting salary being negotiable based on the successful candidate's skills, qualifications and overall suitability for the role.
Realistic total earnings: £30,000 – £45,000+
(including overtime, call-out fees for attending out-of-hours work, and bonus schemes)
- 7.5% bonus scheme available
- Regular overtime available and paid at double time
- Additional consideration may be given to candidates with multiple trade disciplines, specialist skills, or extensive relevant experience
Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
