The Market & Wholesale Produce Assistant is responsible for supporting the successful operation of the company’s retail farmers’ markets and wholesale produce distribution. Key Responsibilities
Retail Market Operations
- Attend and assist with the operation of farmers’ market stalls on Saturdays and Sundays.
- Set up and dismantle market stalls, displays, and equipment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and build strong customer relationships.
- Actively promote and sell products to maximise sales performance.
- Handle cash and electronic payments where required.
- Maintain stock levels, product presentation, and cleanliness throughout trading hours.
- Assist customers with product information and recommendations.
Wholesale Market Operations
- Attend the scheduled overnight wholesale shift commencing at approximately 12:00 midnight on Thursday evenings.
- Prepare, load, transport, and deliver fresh produce to the designated wholesale market.
- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly, including a 3.5-tonne Luton van.
- Assist with unloading, stock organisation, and wholesale customer requirements.
- Complete delivery records and stock documentation accurately.
General Duties
- Adhere to all health and safety, food hygiene, and company policies.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and work areas in a clean and professional condition.
- Assist with produce preparation, packing, stock management, and inventory control.
- Undertake any additional duties reasonably required to support business operations.
Working Hours
The role includes:
- Thursday Night: Overnight wholesale market shift commencing at approximately 12:00 midnight.
- Saturday: Farmers’ market retail operations.
- Sunday: Farmers’ market retail operations.
Additional hours may be available during peak trading periods, seasonal events, holidays, and business growth opportunities.
Remuneration & Benefits

Essential Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Comfortable and confident driving a 3.5-tonne Luton van.
