Senior CAD Designer / Project Coordinator - Immediate start available.
Spa Design and Build Limited – Experts in Bespoke Spa & Pool Design
About Us:
Spa Design and Build Limited specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke swimming pools, spas and wellness environments for high-end residential and commercial projects. Our reputation is built on craftsmanship, technical expertise and design excellence.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Senior CAD Designer / Project Coordinator to join our Projects Team, someone with strong AutoCAD skills who also has a good understanding of how construction projects are coordinated and delivered.
You will work closely with our Head of Projects and wider design, manufacturing and installation teams, helping to take projects from design development through procurement, manufacture, installation and handover.
The successful candidate will have experience working on live construction, M&E, fit-out, interiors or similar technical projects and be comfortable working across design coordination, project administration, procurement and client/supplier communication.
The Person
This role would suit someone who has progressed beyond being solely a CAD technician and wants to be involved in the wider delivery of projects.
You will need to be practical, organised and commercially aware, with the confidence to ask questions when information does not look right.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their work, understand what is happening across their live projects and communicate effectively with everyone involved.
You should be equally comfortable spending time producing a technical drawing, reviewing project information, speaking with a supplier, attending a project meeting or following up information needed to keep manufacture and installation progressing.
Key Responsibilities:
CAD & Design Coordination
- Produce accurate technical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD.
- Develop and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate drawing revisions following design development, client comments, site information and technical changes.
- Review drawings and project information for accuracy, buildability and potential coordination issues.
- Ensure drawings reflect agreed specifications, finishes and project requirements.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision control and associated design documentation.
- Work with the manufacturing and installation teams to ensure designs can be practically manufactured and installed.
- Produce or coordinate information required for manufacture and site installation.
- Identify missing, conflicting or unclear design information and raise this before it impacts manufacture or site works.
Project Coordination & Administration
- Support the Head of Projects in coordinating live projects from design through to manufacture, installation and handover.
- Develop a good working knowledge of assigned projects, including scope, programme, drawings, specifications and outstanding actions.
- Maintain accurate project files, trackers, records and documentation.
- Monitor project actions, information requirements and key dates.
- Coordinate information between clients, consultants, suppliers and internal teams.
- Attend project meetings where required and follow up actions arising from them.
- Assist with RFIs, technical submissions, drawing approvals and other project correspondence.
- Monitor design and procurement requirements against the project programme.
- Help identify potential design, procurement or programme issues before they affect delivery.
- Support the preparation and collation of handover information and O&M documentation.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
- Coordinate procurement requirements against drawings, specifications and project programmes.
- Obtain and review supplier quotations.
- Raise and maintain purchase orders and associated procurement records.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding technical requirements, pricing, lead times and delivery dates.
- Monitor outstanding orders and long-lead items.
- Ensure materials and equipment being ordered correspond with the latest approved project information.
- Escalate potential procurement or delivery issues at an early stage.
Client & Project Communication
- Communicate professionally and confidently with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain a good understanding of live projects so routine project and design queries can be dealt with effectively.
- Attend client and site meetings where required.
- Follow up outstanding information, decisions and approvals.
- Ensure important information and changes are communicated to the relevant internal teams.
- Build effective working relationships with clients and the wider project team.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in CAD design, technical design and/or project coordination within construction, architectural, M&E, fit-out or a similar technical environment.
- Strong professional working knowledge of AutoCAD - essential.
- Good understanding of construction drawings and technical information.
- Experience working on and coordinating live construction projects, with an understanding of project programmes, design information, procurement and site delivery.
- Ability to understand the wider project rather than solely the drawing package.
- Strong project administration and document-control skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Confident communication skills when dealing with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, missing information and potential coordination issues.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Experience in several of the following would be advantageous:
- M&E or building-services coordination.
- Commercial fit-out or high-end interiors.
- Working for a specialist subcontractor.
- Coordinating larger-value construction contracts.
- Projects involving design, manufacture and site installation.
- Procurement and supplier management.
- RFIs, technical submissions and drawing approvals.
- O&M and handover documentation.
- ERP or project-management systems.
