About the Role
We are looking for friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Shop Assistants to join our team as we open our brand-new convenience store. You will play an important role in providing excellent customer service, maintaining high store standards, and ensuring customers enjoy a clean, well-stocked, and welcoming shopping environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Operate the till accurately and process cash, card, and contactless payments.
- Replenish shelves and ensure products are well presented.
- Monitor stock levels and report low stock or damaged items.
- Check deliveries and assist with stocking new products.
- Rotate stock and check expiry dates to ensure product quality.
- Keep the shop clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing the store when required.
- Help prevent theft by following security procedures and reporting suspicious activity.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
- Friendly and approachable with excellent customer service skills.
- Honest, dependable, and punctual.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
Desirable
- Previous retail or convenience store experience.
- Cash handling and till operation experience.
- Food handling or retail experience.
- Basic knowledge of stock control.
