About the Role
We are looking for compassionate and motivated individuals to join our team as Children's Residential Support Worker Apprentices.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in care, support work, youth work, education, or a similar setting who wants to gain a recognised qualification while building a rewarding career supporting children and young people.
You will work within a residential care setting, helping young people develop confidence, independence, and life skills while ensuring they feel safe, supported, and valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people in their daily routines, education, health, and wellbeing
- Build positive and professional relationships with young people
- Help create a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment
- Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development
- Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of young people
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
Apprenticeship Training
As part of this role, you will complete the Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Level 4 Apprenticeship (Residential Childcare Pathway).
You will gain knowledge and skills in:
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Child and adolescent development
- Trauma-informed care and support
- Building positive relationships and attachments
- Risk management and residential childcare practice
- Professional responsibilities and reflective practice
Who This Role Is Suitable For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in care, support work, youth work, education, residential care, or a related field
- Is caring, patient, and resilient
- Communicates effectively and works well within a team
- Can maintain professional boundaries and remain calm under pressure
- Is committed to supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes
- Is willing to learn and complete a Level 4 apprenticeship
Previous experience in children's residential care is beneficial but not essential. Candidates with transferable experience from adult care, education, support work, or youth services are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
- Able to complete apprenticeship training alongside employment
- Willing to work towards the required English and Maths qualifications if needed
