The Bakery TW is an independent artisan bakery and café in Tunbridge Wells, producing everything from naturally fermented sourdough and pastries to a fresh, seasonal savoury menu.
We're looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Cook to join our team and help shape the next stage of our kitchen. While our current menu focuses on breakfast muffins, sandwiches and wraps, we're continually developing new ideas and expanding what we offer. We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of that journey.
Alongside our café menu, you'll prepare our range of handmade savoury pastries, including sausage rolls and seasonal specials, using fillings and components made in-house.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, takes pride in consistency, and understands that the smallest details often make the biggest difference.
The Role
- Prepare and cook our breakfast and lunch menu to a consistently high standard.
- Produce breakfast muffins, sandwiches and wraps with care and attention to detail.
- Make handmade savoury pastries, including sausage rolls and seasonal specials.
- Prepare fillings, sauces, pickles and other components from scratch.
- Help develop and refine new dishes as our menu continues to evolve.
- Maintain an organised kitchen with excellent mise en place throughout the day.
- Rotate stock correctly and help minimise waste.
- Take ownership of cleaning tasks and maintain exceptional kitchen hygiene throughout every shift.
- Follow all food safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Enjoys cooking with fresh ingredients and making food properly.
- Cares about quality and consistency just as much as speed.
- Works well under pressure while staying organised.
- Takes genuine pride in keeping a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen.
- Is reliable, hardworking and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
- Wants to learn, contribute ideas and grow with the business.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay, depending on experience.
- Two guaranteed consecutive days off every week — we're closed on Sundays and Mondays.
- One week closed over Christmas.
- Staff discount.
- A supportive, friendly team that cares about doing things properly.
- The opportunity to influence a menu that is constantly evolving, with plenty of scope to contribute new ideas.
We're not looking for someone to simply keep the kitchen running. We're looking for someone who enjoys making great food, values high standards, and wants to help us continue building something we're proud of.
Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
